A1's shot -- for lack of a better term -- hits the post and ricochets toward the sideline, with players from A and B racing for position to gain possession when the ball goes out. Because it's not a legal shot, it shouldn't matter who is closer when the ball goes out of bounds; rather, it's just like an errand pass from A1 to A2 that goes out... B takes possession when play resumes. Right? Unless it is blatantly obvious that the ball was below GLE when it was released, you should use your game-management skills on this.
