  1. Face-Offs – July 9, 2022

    Rule 4.3.3.i

"Upon the whistle starting play, players must attempt to play the ball first before they may body-check their opponent."

There isn't a Situation in the Rules Book for the Rule. Yes, the face-off players must play the ball before bodying-up their opponent... that said, the player is not required to play the ball at the whistle; they can concede the face-off (without contact), but not engage with their opponent until possession is gained -- or the wing players have joined the scrum.

    Is that an accurate interpretation?

  2. Injury to an Official during contest – May 17, 2022

Let's say a two man game. Official 1 starts the game then is suddenly unable to finish the game for whatever medical reason. Please advise how we should proceed?
    Thanks

  3. head of stick dislodged by check – May 12, 2022

Midfielder from Team A has ball and is checked by opposing team Midfielder from Team B, whose head of his stick breaks off on the check. B middie picks up his head and pole, does not interfere or enter play and runs to substitution box. Ball continues on the ground and is recovered by B team. Referee blows whistle and calls playing without equipment and awards ball to team A.
Ruling A: No whistle required play on, because B middie never interfered with play
Ruling B: Correct to stop game.
    Which is correct

  4. warding – May 5, 2022

Player A with the ball cradles with 2 hands on the stick and lowers his shoulder to initiate contact with the defender. Is this a legal play? Is this considered warding off?

  5. Time Keeper For penalties – May 5, 2022

Are the home team or away teams managers/time keepers in charge of keeping penalty time?

  6. stalling – April 23, 2022

Team A is choking the clock and not going to the goal inside the offensive box. How long do you let the team stall with out attacking the cage?

  7. substitutions – April 23, 2022

Dead ball situation off a timeout. Team A starts with ball in defensive half of the field coming out of the TO. Whistle blows to start play, player comes out of the substitution box on the offensive half of the field and receives the pass.

Is this a delayed substitution and turn over of the ball?

  8. Face off Mechanics – Counts – April 22, 2022

Is there a specific defined mechanic on which official conducts the counts (10 and/or 20) after a face off? FO or Wing? Lead or Trail? 2-man mechanics.

This is obviously something that can be established in pre-game. But I often feel as if it’s not always understood, and often times I notice both of us end up counting or neither.

Was just curious if there was a defined mechanic or something left to preference of the crew.

  9. Faceoff – April 16, 2022

All season I have been adjusting the players on the face off: move to the left a bit, please get your hand off the plastic, etc. Nothing huge, but minor adjustments to ensure a legal position. A coach is insistent that we are not supposed to make ANY adjustments: if a player doesn't go down perfectly legal, we are to take the ball away. I don't recall that being said in any meeting. Can you please clarify?

  10. Slashing/unnecessary roughness – April 13, 2022

Is a stick check initiated above the shoulder/tomahawk that hits the opponent’s stick legal?
