Another Re-Start Question ! March 7, 2022 World Games 2014 0 Forum Questions Team A quickly picks up the ball after a turnover 2 yards from the sideline right in front of the visitor's bench area. NO one is within 5 yards of him on the field of play. but the coach and several players are just over the sideline very close to him though out of bounds. As the official do you take the time to move the Team A player 5 yards from the sideline then blow the whistle and thus waste Team A's time ; or move the OOB people five yards away from the restarter then blow it in; or simply blow it in and cede to Team A wish for a quick restart ? However players out of bounds (assuming they are not within the substitution box or not legally out of bounds which need to return to play immediately) need not be concerned with. However it is incumbent upon us to manage the situation as quickly as possible without having our "pants on fire". Ie we need to hustle to the location of the restart if the situation allows for it and manage the chaos to the best of our ability. Realistically, it is always easier to have a slower, cleaner restart then to put yourself in a potential flag-down situation.
