Great point is the inferrance of lightning when there is thunder. You cant have one without the other so it is not necessary to actually see lightning. Tyma's Answer: Visual Text I take this to be about lightning. If the lighting is insufficient and can't be remedied, the game is over. In the event of lightning (whether seen or inferred by the sound of thunder), officials must direct the teams to leave the field and seek appropriate shelter as directed by the home-team site manager. At that point a 30-minute clock is started. Each time that lightning is seen or thunder is heard, the 30-minute clock is restarted. Only after 30 minutes have elapsed since the last lightning strike or thunder is heard can any members of either team return to the field. Allow the teams ample time to warm up before restarting play. Note: If thunderstorms are in the weather forecast for game time, it is a good practice for the referee to inquire about lightning shelter when contacting the school to confirm the game. In addition, it is advisable to ask the site manager (or home-team coach if he is serving as site manager) before the game what arrangements have been made for lightning shelter. Some schools use lightning detectors to supplement audio and visual observation. You should count detector indications the same as hearing thunder or seeing lightning.
