Goal Not On GLE May 8, 2019 World Games 2014 0 Forum Questions There's a lot of action in front of the crease, both teams feverishly trying to scoop the ball -- but only defensive players (including the Goalie) are in the crease. Somehow, the goal gets knocked off center -- angled like an open door, with one pipe probably three feet from GLE. If that was something done intentionally I'd probably give the defense a Conduct Penalty. Should the play continue until the unsettled situation becomes settled? Or should play be suspended immediately when the goal is knocked off-line and go to AP? If that action in front of the crease resulted in a goal, should it count? Under NCAA Rules it states page 37 Rule 4 Section 10 AR43 <em>"If the goal cage is accidentally dislodged during play , officials shall let the scoring play continue and allow the goal if the ball enter the goal cage. Officials should stop play if/when no scoring play exist and replace the goal cage." - </em> <em> </em>I believe we should encourage our officials to do the same as it allows for consistency between the two levels. In the case mentioned I think you have enough to not consider it a goal scoring opportunity and use the AP to award possession and fix the cage.
