Follow-Up to the Over-and-Back Question June 2, 2019 World Games 2014 0 Forum Questions I searched for the appropriate rule during the game, and was just closing a window on my phone when I came across this... 4-14-3: ART. 3 . . . Once the ball has been successfully advanced into the goal area, a team is provided the opportunity to run its offense in its offensive half of the field. If the offensive team carries, passes or propels the ball to its defensive half of the field and the offensive team was last in possession, and last touched the ball (except on shot), the result will be an immediate turnover or play-on. That "except on shot" qualifier confuses me. I guess if the shot carried to Central's Defensive half of the field, then there wouldn't have been Over-and-Back if Central picked it up? I don't know... What's the meaning or intent of "except on shot?" Thanks Question File Add new DuBan's Answer: Visual Text Correct. The play was ended due to the team gaining possession in the offensive half of the field and then carrying the ball over the midfield line. If the team had not gained possession of the ball until after it crossed over the midline, it would have been a new possession and a new 20-second count, then 10-second count to advance the ball into the offensive box.
