Observations Philosophy

We will strive to provide honest, direct, supportive, and constructive feedback to help the professional growth of our membership, especially our newer members.

Areas of Focus for Observation

  • Professionalism and Appearance
  • Mechanics and Positioning
  • Rules Knowledge and Foul Recognition

If you are being observed

  • Prior to Game
    • Referee should reach out to the Observer at least a day before the game and include the Observer on all communication about the game
    • If possible, the Observer will sit/listen in on the Pre-Game
  • Post-Game
    • Make arrangements to talk to the Observer afterwards either at the site or on the phone
    • If an Observer asks you a question after the game, just be honest.

Currently, we are not doing observations on request.  Rather, we are focusing on seeing as many officials with 5 or less years experience as possible to provide them the valuable feedback they need to grow and succeed on the lacrosse field.

If you have any questions about Observations, email the Executive Board Observation chair.
