2015 Election Candidates
President
In my current role as President of the NJILOA, I am proud of the progress that our Executive Board has made since 2012. Under my leadership, and with the dedication of the Executive Board, we created a plan with aggressive goals and objectives that were successfully implemented and have benefited all members.
Together we have:
• Revamped NJILOA website adding online Registration/Membership, Test and Automated Attendance
• Redefined Cadet Training program adding a Level 2 Cadet curriculum
• Created 3-Man Training Curriculum
• Established Mentoring program
• Completed over 200 Official evaluations
• Instituted a Background Check that complies with NJSIAA requirements
• Registered Organization as 501(c)3
• Maintain full integrity in assigning throughout the County, State/TOC games
In addition to these, there are still many issues that are still work in process – i.e. Renegotiation/Renewal of the Affiliation Agreement with the NJSIAA and a mandated Officials shirt requirement. And although we have made significant improvements over the past 3 years, there is still much to do. I am very confident that with the continued dedication of our Executive Board, the input of the membership, we can continue to make vast improvements to our association, while maintaining our reputation as the “Best Run Officials Association in the NJ”.
I am running for NJILOA President because I believe I can get us back on the right track on many levels. From fees to our finances, I want to try and fix some of our problems. I would like to get more input from members to fix some things have come up in the last year. As an educator and in my current capacity, I have developed positive relations with many AD’s across the state that can certainly work to our advantage. I won’t make any promises about outcomes, but will focus on the process: I want to use surveys to poll members about some of the decisions the board makes. In running the board, I want to ensure that before any vote is taken, the question to be asked is simple: is this decision in the best interest of the membership? I think I have the experience, after serving as ethics chair for the last three years and also being involved in each level of the organization from clinic instructor and evaluator to cadet instructor. We are at a critical juncture in the organization; I believe that it is time for a high school official to run our group.
