March 30, 2018 Rule 7 0 Forum Questions At the faceoff to start the 2nd quarter both A1 & B1 arrive at the center X for faceoff with sticks that do not have contrasting tape or contrasting shaft color. Ruling: Technical Foul: delay of game on both A 1 & B1. Use Alternate Possession to award for free clear at center X. Both A1 and B1 do not serve penalty time, both stay in game since sticks are legal for play other then faceoff. Is this ruling correct? To his point about not looking for trouble, this is one of many good reasons to hold a conference with face-off players before the game starts. You remind them of the rules, you look at their sticks, and you point out any stick problems then and there. I might be inclined to send both players off, and tell the benches that their sticks were not legal for face-off.
